Electrolytic immersion cleaning

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

In electrolytic degreasing operations, the mechanical effect is provided by a gaseous release created by the passage between two electrodes of a direct current, the bath being conductive. This reduces the temperature of the bath.

The parts are connected either :

  • to the negative pole called cathode, giving off hydrogen = reducing power with elimination of oxides.
  • to the positive pole called anode, giving off oxygen = oxidizing power.

The combination of the 2 polarities, with an inversion brings an increased performance while limiting the fragility of the metal related to the inclusion of hydrogen ions in the grain joints hence the need to finish in anodic phase. The amount of current expressed in Amperes/dm2 is adjusted more or less strongly according to the nature of the metal to be degreased (from 1 to 10 A/dm2). This technology is mainly applied to electroplating or continuous strip processing.
