Paint workshop maintenance

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

The application of the paint is done in an installation that must be as clean as possible because the slightest dust on the part is equivalent to a scrap or a touch-up, therefore an additional cost. When the paint is sprayed, 40-50% of the paint is sprayed to the outside because the spray gun starts spraying before the part comes into contact with the spray.

This loss is called overspray. A water curtain cabin captures this overspray through the water run-off that contains a flocculant (clarifying agent).

  • BONDERITE® Paint Booth Protection

The walls of the paint booth must be kept clean and clear and the dirt caused by the paint splashes is absorbed by peelable (solvent or aqueous) varnishes sprayed on the walls. This varnish is replaced regularly by removing it by peeling. There is also another method of depositing fat dispersion in the aqueous phase which is eliminated by high pressure jet.

  • BONDERITE® denaturation of  Paint

The purpose of the flocculent also sometimes called coagulant is :

    • to denature the paint, that is to say to remove its sticky power so as not to clog the pipes
    • to disperse the paint
    • to coagulate (neutralize electrical charges) to form a releasing floc
    • to remove the foam created by saponification of resins in alkaline medium

The flocs are evacuated regularly to avoid clogging of the tank and foul-smelling bacterial releases.

A golden rule : “A paint flocculant acts as a preventive measure, never as a curative measure”.

  • Cleaning of peripheral equipment
  • Paint stripping for all types of media

Paint stripping is an operation that makes it possible to expose parts with defects in order to process them again in the painting line, to strip the supports of parts (scales) which ensures a quality of coating and to renovate various parts. Pickling processes act in 2 ways:

  • by chemical dissolution
  • by disbondment

Rinsing and corrosion protection are required after a pickling operation.
